With Communities

To show our appreciation of local communities and to further deepen the understanding of the Akebono Group's business, we proactively undertake initiatives that contribute to society.

In line with Akebono's Corporate Mission, as members of society, our associates continue to take steps to maintain and expand these initiatives.

Offering Office and Plant Tours

Akebono proactively invites external companies as well as students from local elementary and junior high schools to tour its offices and plants across Japan.

In fiscal 2016, more than 249 students from four elementary schools in Saitama Prefecture visited Ai-City headquarters as part of their social studies tours.

In addition to a briefing on the Company, this visit included an “Ai-Museum” (Brake Museum) tour and observation of the mobile brake technology educational center as well as programs aimed at providing hands-on experience of manufacturing at the Monozukuri Center. Such tours help raise visitors’ safety awareness while facilitating their understanding of Akebono and its products.

Looking ahead, we will implement initiatives with local enterprises and communities in regions around our domestic and overseas locations. Learning from and inspiring each other, we will grow in tandem with our stakeholders.

Winning the outstanding prize from
the Saitama Prefecture Career Advancement Education Award

Akebono’s special subsidiary company, Akebono 123, works with local communities to provide career education to students from special education schools in Saitama Prefecture. This helps them to develop necessary skills and attitudes and support their social and occupational independence.

Since 2008, we have accepted students from Saitama Prefectural Hanyufuji Koto Gakuen Special Education High School for workplace tours and work experience. Akebono 123 has received a commission from the Saitama Prefectural Board of Education and is actively involved in Hanyufuji Koto Gakuen Special Education High School operations as a school councilor.

In recognition of these efforts, we were presented in February 2017 with an outstanding prize at the Saitama Career Practical Education Awards 2017, run by the Saitama Prefectural Board of Education and Saitama Employers Association. These awards involve recruiting and registering companies that declare their support for career education, which indicates a willingness to be involved in career education for students at prefectural-run schools, and awarding participating companies that have outstanding examples of implementing the program.
