Editorial PolicyAkebono Brake Industry Co. Ltd. (“the Company”)and Group affiliates (“akebono” or “the Group”) havesince fiscal 2002 prepared and disclosed an annualEnvironmental Report to increase public understandingof the Group’s environmental preservation activitiesas well as to report on the results of suchactivities. akebono is aware of its corporate socialresponsibility which includes the protection of theenvironment as well as ongoing activities that contributeto society. From fiscal 2005 taking the viewpointof accountability we reported on our activitiesin our Environmental & Social Report. In fiscal 2009 we began including financial information such asresults reporting and financial statements?traditionallypublished in our annual report?in this report aiming to provide a better communication tool with avariety of information for stakeholders. We thusrenamed it the AKEBONO REPORT.In preparing the content of the AKEBONOREPORT 2011 the Environmental ReportsGuidelines 2007 issued by the Ministry of theEnvironment and the third edition of the GlobalReporting Initiative (GRI) Guidelines have beenadhered to with regard to editorial matters.Furthermore the report has been written in a simple easy-to-read manner in order to raise the interestof the general public in akebono. In addition thereport contains specific examples for the purpose ofdeepening the understanding of readers with regardto akebono’s activities at each facility.Reporting ScopeReporting PeriodThis report covers the annual results data for the2010 fiscal year (April 1 2010 to March 31 2011).In addition certain information on activities after thelatter date is included to provide a better understandingof our ongoing efforts.OrganizationsActivity details and data are provided for akebonofacilities in Japan United States Europe Thailand China and Indonesia.Official names of some Group facilities havebeen abbreviated.
