Ltd.Declaration of Safety with FamiliesIntroduced first at Fukushima Manufacturing our “SafetyMessages” are an example of an initiative aimed at raisingassociates’ safety mindedness. Under this program associates’families provide letters that communicate messagesabout safety both for their loved ones and for display in theworkplace.This initiative which takes the “Declaration of Safetywith Families” as its theme aims to make associates payclose attention to safety by reminding them of their families.Those separated from or without family are provided withletters from their supervisor and colleagues.A second aim of the “Safety Messages” program is toreinforce the mission of Akebono which is to contribute tosafety through communications that remind them that theyare loved by families colleagues and friends.We hope that these “Safety Messages” will contribute tothe realization of the Brand Slogan.10-Minutes’ CommunicationTo facilitate exchange among associates that transcendsthe boundaries between departments and to raise the levelof information sharing we hold “10-Minutes’ Communication”sessions involving associates from administrativedepartments. These gatherings of five to seven people arekept small to allow participants to introduce themselves totheir peers and get to know each other well as they shareinformation about their jobs and discuss such topics ashow their work relates to the overall business directionthe Company is taking. The sessions are held in suchplaces as break rooms to ensure that participants areable to relax and to deepen exchanges through face-to-facecommunications.By facilitating Companywide exchanges among associatesfrom administrative departments we aim to solidifythe sense of unity and organizational power among associatesand thereby strengthen our competitiveness.In 2011 times for “10-Minutes’ Communication” sessionswere scheduled for four occasions over a period of six weeks with 847 associates from 18 departments participating.Open House EventTOPICSBulletin boards with “Safety Messages”are posted in each departmentAs an activity to enhance our brand image which isunderpinned by the policy of “becoming a brand you canboast about to your family ” we hold “Open House Event”days at each location inviting families of associates tocome to see where their family members are working. Infiscal 2011 such visiting days were held at four Akebonolocations with 121 people participating.From participants such comments as “it was good tosee what my sister’s workplace is like ” “I was happy tosee my dad’s workplace” (schoolchild) “I appreciate thestaff taking care of my children so that I could take thetime to tour the workplace” (wife of an associate)” and“everywhere I went I was addressed by old friends. I hada very good time (ex-associate who is also mother of acurrent associate)” were given.Communicating with overseas locations through a television conference(the Global Head Office August 24 2011)To Deepen Friendships and Nurture Pride in the CompanyWith Our AssociatesWe are aiming to instill pride in the Company in ourassociates and so are seeking to win the understandingof their families.
