Diversity ManagementTo become a truly global company capable of achieving sustainablegrowth, Akebono is proactively implementing diversity managementcentered on three key initiatives: diversity promotion;work-life balance promotion; and career development assistance.Akebono also offers a global career track to associates in linewith their aspirations. reflecting this, a large number of associateswho have gone on to become expatriates in recent years havebeen women. With the aim of nurturing creativity, Akebono pursuesdiversity management that highly respects individual goalsregarding working and life styles. By doing so, we will strive todevelop a corporate structure that helps each associate to fullyrealize their potential.Initiatives Aimed at Maintaininga High Retention RateIn recent years, Japanese industry has seen growing numbers ofnew graduates resigning within a few years of being hired. Inresponse, Akebono is striving to maintain and improve its associateretention rate. Thanks to these efforts, as of the beginning offiscal 2014, 93% of the associates hired in fiscal 2011 remained inthe Company.With Our AssociatesOverseas Labor ManagementWe recognize that maintaining stable labor-management relationshipsat overseas locations is important and, therefore, position itas an ongoing management issue.With this in mind, while integrating the personnel systems ofsubsidiaries in Guangzhou and Suzhou, we are working to developfine adjustments to suit regional characteristics, incorporating suchfeatures as regionally specific allowance programs. In addition, infiscal 2012 we began providing local associates working at thesetwo subsidiaries with English-language training programs. InThailand, we have striven to recruit senior staff from local candidateswhile helping our local subsidiary raise brand awarenessamong people in universities and other educational institutions.In Mexico, our involvement in the establishment of Akebono BrakeMexico S.A. de C.V. included hiring managers locally and helpingthem formulate company rules.Moreover, with the aim of nurturing associates’ sense of purposeand pride in their work, since April 2013 efforts have beenunder way at overseas locations to prepare documents related toour Corporate Mission and other policies in local languages. Inaddition, such overseas production bases as Akebono EuropeS.A.S. (Arras) and Akebono Brake (Thailand) Co., Ltd. have beenstriving to raise associates’ awareness by putting up posters outliningthese policies and showcasing the products they make. InMexico, we gave a presentation on our corporate branding initiativesin June 2014 in support of efforts to nurture local associates’sense of unity as a Group member. We also organized a companytrip in July 2013, in which more than 200 associates participated inand had a great time interacting.To support personnel administration in each country, we hold“Global Personnel Administration Meetings” on a regular sites.
