With CommunitiesAkebono’s Social Contribution Activities around the WorldAkebono is striving to build favorable relationships with local communities worldwide through a variety of social contribution activities and events.A Toy Donation Campaign in KentuckyAt ABE based in Kentucky the United States we presented localchildren with Christmas gifts such as bicycles and toys participatingwholeheartedly in the Elizabethtown campaign of the Toys forTots Foundation a charitable organization that delivers messagesof hope to less fortunate youngsters in the hope of assisting themto become responsible productive and patriotic citizens. In additionto gifts donated by associates ABE provided a fund totaling 1 000dollars to purchase bicycles and toys. As a result we were able todonate more than 50 bicycles along with a total of 2 500 dollars.Akebono President Receives Legion D’honneurOfficier from the Republic of FranceIn March 2015 Akebono President Hisataka Nobumoto was chosento bear “Legion D’honneur Officier ” a prestigious title that since1802 has been awarded by the Republic of France to commendpersons who have made outstanding contributions in various fields.Since establishing a French subsidiary in 1985 Akebono hasworked to develop its local business network opening an R&Dcenter friction material production plant and foundation brakeresearch center in 1995 1998 and 2013 respectively.The awarding of the Legion D’honneur Officier was in recognitionof significant contributions Akebono has made to local economicdevelopment in France and to enhancing the country’simage as a place friendly to R&D investment.Our CSR Activities in IndonesiaPT. Akebono Brake Astra Indonesia (AAIJ) was granted “Five Stars ”the highest accreditation under the Astra Friendly CompanyCertificate (AFC) system operated by Astra International a majorcompany that heads one of Indonesia’s foremost conglomerates inthe automotive and other industries for its unique initiatives tofulfill its corporate social responsibility.At AAIJ efforts are now under way to help improve the qualityof life in the local community and to nurture young people throughthe provision of continued support and donations and the creationof employment opportunities.
