Report following the 2011 off the Pacific coast of Tohoku Earthquake
Akebono Brake Industry, Co. Ltd. extends its most sincere sympathy to those who have suffered from Friday's devastating earthquake and subsequent tremors which struck off the northern coast of Japan. We wish for the soonest recovery.
At 14:46 JST, a strong earthquake hit Northern Japan. The following is a report related to Akebono operations.
１． Associates
As the telecommunications services are not fully recovered, we have not been able to confirm the safety of 10 Akebono group associates. However, we have not heard any of damages at this moment.
We are continuing to confirm the safety of all Akebono group associates.
２． Facilities
・ Akebono Brake Fukushima Manufacturing Co., Ltd., Fukushima
There have been some damages in the building and facility. Details are not confirmed due to the telecommunications malfunction as well as the delay in power supply. As the power supply has been
resumed since Sunday afternoon, the 13th, the facility is in process of recovery.
・ Akebono Brake Yamagata Manufacturing Co., Ltd .,Yamagata
Even though there have been some damages in the building and facility, they have already been recovered. Since Monday, the 14th, upon resumption of power supply, it has started the test run and
commissioning, and expected to resume production gradually.
・ Akebono Brake Iwatsuki Manufacturing Co., Ltd., Saitama
Regardless of some damages, the operation is fully recovered and production has been started since Monday, the 14th.
・ Tatebayashi Foundry:
There have been some damages in facility. It is in process of recovery and it is expected to resume production from Tuesday, the 15th.
・ Akebono Proving Grounds (Test Course):
Although there have been some damages in test courses, facility and building, the details are under investigation (Proving grounds has no direct and immediate effect on production).
As for the future production, we will make sure the safety first and continue to plan, considering the customers’ production plans and infrastructure situations, such as planned brown-out.
Also, as for the damages to our materials and parts suppliers, we have not been able to get full contacts and we will continue to confirm their safety.
３．Effects on Financial Results
The effects of the earthquake on our financial results are uncertain at the moment. If we see the possibilities of the effects, we will make sure to disclose the details immediately.
