Hat-trick Wins at Canadian Grand Prix for Vodafone McLaren Mercedes F1 Team, Supplied with Akebono Brake Systems
McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton won the Formula One 2012 Canadian Grand Prix on June 10th at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, Montreal, which is known as one of the toughest circuits for braking. It was not only the first win for Lewis Hamilton this season, but also his third Canadian Grand Prix victory, and made it a hat-trick of wins for McLaren in 2010, 2011 and 2012. Akebono has officially supplied brake systems since 2007 to Vodafone McLaren Mercedes and works together closely with the team. Martin Whitmarsh, McLaren team principal, commented after the race "I want to pay tribute to Akebono, whose brake calipers coped brilliantly on the circuit that by some margin poses the biggest braking challenge of the Formula One year."
