2013 MFJ All Japan Road Race Championship Series Round Two: Racer Takumi Takahashi takes second place on the MuSASHi RT HARC-Pro, supplied with Akebono brake system
Round two of the MFJ All Japan Road Race Championship Series for the JSB1000 class was held on April 14 at Suzuka Circuit in Mie Prefecture, Japan. MuSASHi RT HARC-Pro (rider: Takumi Takahashi, Honda CBR1000RR), to which Akebono supplies the braking system, finished in second place.
Takahashi posted a strong time during the morning warm-up, and after starting the race in the third position, he climbed to second place in the S-turn on the first lap. However, on the first lap of the 200R turn, three motorcycles wiped out, leaving motorcycle parts scattered over the course and prompting the safety car to enter the course. The safety car remained on the course until the fifth lap, and as the race resumed in the sixth lap, Takahashi gave a valiant run at leader Kosuke Akiyoshi but finished the race in second place.
After the race, Takahashi commented, "My motorcycle felt good during the morning warm-up, but when the setup was changed afterward, the performance was not very good. If things had remained as they were, I think I could have competed with Akiyoshi. Even though I gave it my all until the end, it was difficult because I couldn't pick up the pace. I want to get my machine set up properly for the next race so that I can compete."
The Round 3 of the 2013 MFJ All Japan Road Race Championship Series (Autopolis Super 2&4 RACE 2013), will take place on June 1 and 2, at the Autopolis Circuit in Oita Prefecture.
Akebono participated in JSB1000, the top category of the All Japan Road Race Championship Series, from 2004 to 2008. In the 2011 season, Akebono took part for the first time in two years, and in the 2012-2013 season, too, Akebono is supplying the brake system for the MuSASHi RT HARC-Pro.
